LADY OF ALL PEOPLES

HISTORY OF APPARITIONS

Isje Johanna Peerdeman, known as Ida, was born on August 13, 1905 in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, the last of five children.

The first of the apparitions had by Ida took place on October 13, 1917: the seer, then twelve years old, reported having seen, while in Amsterdam returning home after confession, a bright woman of exceptional beauty, whom she immediately identified with the Virgin Mary. She said the "Beautiful Lady" was smiling at her without speaking, keeping her arms slightly open. Ida, on the advice of his spiritual director, Father Frehe, did not disclose the episode, despite having repeated it for two more Saturdays.

The longest apparitions began in 1945, when the visionary was about 35 years old, on March 25, the feast of the Annunciation. The Madonna would have appeared to Ida when she was at home in the company of the sisters and the spiritual father, Don Frehe: suddenly the visionary is attracted to the other room by a light that only she perceived. «I thought: where does it come from, and what strange light is this? I got up and had to move to that light, "Ida later told. “The light, which shone in a corner of the room, came closer. The wall disappeared from my eyes along with everything in the room. It was a sea of light and a deep void. It was not sunlight nor electric. I could not explain what kind of light it was. But it was a deep void. And from this emptiness I suddenly saw a female figure emerge. I can't explain it differently ».

It is the first of 56 apparitions that will continue for 14 years. In these manifestations the Madonna gradually reveals her messages: on February 11, 1951 she entrusts her with a prayer and on the following March 4 shows Ida an image (later painted by the painter Heinrich Repke).

The image depicts the Mother of Christ, with the cross behind her and her feet resting on the terrestrial globe, surrounded by a flock of sheep, symbol of the peoples of the whole world who, according to the message, would have found peace only by turning look at the cross. Rays of Grace radiate from Mary's hands.

As for prayer, Our Lady would have expressed herself in the messages: "You do not know the power and importance of this prayer before God" (31.5.1955); "This prayer will save the world" (10.5.1953); "This prayer is given for the conversion of the world" (31.12.1951); with the daily recitation of the prayer "I assure you that the world will change" (29.4.1951).

This is the text of the prayer, translated into eighty languages:

«Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, now send your Spirit to earth. Make the Holy Spirit dwell in the hearts of all peoples, so that they will be preserved from corruption, calamities and war. May the Lady of All Nations, the Blessed Virgin Mary, be our Advocate. Amen."

(Message of 15.11.1951)

Our Lady also asked to send a letter to Rome, so that the pope would issue a fifth Marian dogma concerning the role of Mary as Coredemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate of mankind.

In the messages, Our Lady would have told Ida that she had chosen Amsterdam as the city of the Eucharistic miracle of 1345.

Ida Peerdeman died on June 17, 1996, at the age of ninety.

The public veneration of the Virgin under the title of "Lady of All Nations" was authorized on May 31, 1996 by Mons. Henrik Bomers and by the then Auxiliary Bishop, Mons Josef M. Punt.

On May 31, 2002, Bishop Josef M. Punt issued a formal declaration acknowledging the supernatural character of the apparitions of the Madonna with the title of Lady of All Nations, thus officially approving the apparitions.
